It is an undisputed fact that Pakistani Christian women face the problem of forced marriage and religious conversion, but apart from that, they also face sexual exploitation in various ways, which I will try to describe briefly.
By .Dr Emanuel Adil Ghouri
According to the data compiled by Catholic News Agency and other NGOs, about 1,000 cases of forced marriage and conversion are registered in Pakistan every year. which are presented in urban areas
As a journalist, my opinion is different because the incidents that happen in the backward areas 50 km away from the city are not noticed by the media, social organizations or the police.
More important than the number of cases is where these girls disappear after some years and whether they are alive or not.
The story does not end there, some girls who are strong in their Christian faith and do not agree to convert and marry are kidnapped and gang-raped.
After gang-rape, girls are murdered, acid is thrown on their bodies to destroy identity.
The number of such cases will be very high, but few cases of District Sialkot, Lahore and Faisalabad are on media record
One of the reasons for the sexual exploitation of Pakistani Christian women is poverty. Many women from poor families work as laborers to solve economic problems.Uneducated and unskilled, these women work in people’s homes, factories and offices
Domestic workers are abused by their bosses’ young boys, while female factory workers are abused by co-workers and supervisors.
Persecution of Poverty Some Christian girls of weak faith change their religion to free themselves from poverty and marry non-Christians of their own free will.
Non-Christian men who perform such marriages accept these women as second wives while the families of these men do not recognize these women as part of their family.
These luxuries lead to sexual gratification of people who marry them for their legal protection and get sexual pleasure by keeping them in rented houses
Generally, these women are divorced and released as soon as the youth age ends
Such women have neither a better future nor a better livelihood, so after divorce they are forced into prostitution
The church should play its role in correcting the character of Christian girls who go to other religions by denying God to fulfill their worldly desires.
Souls cannot be saved by spending thousands of dollars on a crudads unless there is close contact with them.
