The towering church was first used in the early 14th century as the residence of Stockholm’s Franciscan friary.

Over the next centuries the churches function shifted and became a burial memorial for Swedish Kings.

The interior of the church displays various wood sculptures and elegant paintings.
The elaborate iron spired tower of the church was built later in the 16th century in Gothic architectural style.
